Gujarat Maritime University is an endeavour by the Gujarat Maritime Board to provide a fillip to this growth by bridging the knowledge gap within the industry. The prime objective of Gujarat Maritime University is to be a global centre of excellence in maritime education, research and development, and professional training. It aims to enhance and increase the human capital and capacity of the maritime industry both in India and across the globe. The aspiration is to serve the global maritime community by producing educated and well-trained professionals in the maritime domain.

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and holistic development of the student and staff. It aims to develop a sense of responsibility among the students and research scholars to serve society with the help of the field of law by developing skills concerning advocacy, legal service, legislation, law reforms, and the like. It aims to promote legal knowledge and to make law and the legal process efficient instruments of social development and social justice.

In Academic Session 2022-23, the Centre for Environmental Law, Sustainable Development & Climate Changes, Gujarat National Law University and Centre for Maritime Environmental Law (CMEL), Gujarat Maritime University are jointly organising the International Conference on Climate Justice and Sustainable Environment (ICCJSE) 2023 from March 24th to 26th, 2023. The event is expected to have participation from industry experts, researchers, and academicians from all over the globe.

The International Conference on Climate Justice and Sustainable Environment (ICCJSE) 2023 is aimed at providing a single platform for experts from the scientific community, economists, social thinkers, and the legal fraternity to consider the damage from climate change. This conference aims to tackle some of the major threats of Climate Change. This conference motivates stakeholders to research by confronting the challenges through scientific innovation, carbon trading, carbon sequestration, disaster management, green building, and freshwater and ocean conservation to ensure sustainable development.
