Bio

After completing his Master of Laws in 2013, he joined Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (MHUPA) Chair on Urban Poor & the Law, NLSIU as Research Officer. Thereafter he started his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Law at NLSIU in 2014. With this modest foundation, his academic journey continued with several Enviro-Legal Research Projects under the auspices of several agencies such as Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Environmental Law Institute, Washington D.C, University Grant Commission etc. He was an Assistant editor for NLSIU’s Journal of Environmental Law, Policy & Development. He was the co-editor of National Law University Assam’s Law and Policy Review since 2015. He has also organized and participated in several capacity building programs, seminars, workshops, consultations & International Summer Schools for Nordic students at Law School. He was an Erasmus Mundus visiting faculty at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, The Netherlands. His research interests revolve around several facets of Environmental Law and International Human Rights Law. He writes opinions and academic commentaries for The Wire, The Jurist etc. and contributes articles and reviews for peer reviewed academic journals and books. He has authored a book titled Global Climate Change and Environmental Laws in India under the aegis of Thomson Reuters in 2021. He is a member of World Council on Environmental Law, IUCN since 2016. He was the principal coordinator and researcher of the legislative drafting project for World Bank and Inland Water Transport, Government of Assam. The proposed draft bill was further enacted as The Assam Inland Water Transport Regulatory Authority Act on 15th November, 2018 by Assam Legislative Assembly. Before joining West Bengal Education Services Cadre, he was working as an Assistant Professor of Law at NLU, Assam. He was also the Coordinator of NLU, Assam's Centre for Environmental Law, Advocacy & Research (CELAR) and member of Academic Council. He holds diploma in percussion and painting. He enjoys cycling, cardio training and cooking. In his free time, he watches multilingual movies of different genres and reads graphic novels.
