Call for Chapters: Edited Book on Media & Entertainment Law 


Background

India’s media business has grown at an astonishing rate within the last few years. The Indian government has facilitated the expansion of this business by liberalising and lowering entry barriers for international investors, most recently with the liberalisation of broadcasting sector standards. Numerous facets of the industry have seen extraordinary improvements and the use of cutting-edge technologies to stay current. The application of technologies has been broadened to all stages of content development, digitization, and globalisation. This sector has grown steadily and continues to do so now with this book, the editors aim to publish a comprehensive book on Media & Entertainment Law.

In this book, editor attempts to discuss certain issues that include online trolling, surveillance, stalking, privacy rights, intellectual property rights, data theft, etc. To address concerns related to users’ rights on digital and social media, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 have been framed in the exercise of powers under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Editors welcome discussions, arguments, and submissions related to the identified sub-themes and other areas that are relevant and appropriate to the main theme. The conference encourages research with a critical or comparative approach.

2. Right to privacy in the virtual world

3. Digital Media and Surveillance

4. Censorship in the age of digital media

5. Law and ethics in media reporting

6. Social Media’s growth and consequential challenges to cyber security

7. Press and the freedom of information exchange and dissemination

8. Cinematograph Act and recent amendments

9. Critical Analysis of Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021

10. Regulating advertisements in the digital world

11. Regulating digital media vis-à-vis freedom of speech and expression

12. Broadcasting and Licensing rights

13. COVID-19 and contract enforcement in the media and entertainment industry

14. Regulations for social media influencers and celebrity endorsements

15. Changing dimensions of criminal law in the new age virtual world

16. Any other topic directly or indirectly related to the main theme.

Note: The abovementioned list of themes is illustrative and not exhaustive. The authors are welcome to submit their papers on any topic which is related to the core theme.

Submission Procedure

Academicians, Researchers, practitioners and students are invited to submit an abstract of 300-350 words clearly explaining the topic and objectives of the proposed chapter on or before 20th September 2022 to email: entertainmentlaw2022@gmail.com
Submissions must be made in .doc/.docx (Microsoft Word) formats only.
Authors will be notified by 25th September 2022 about the status of their abstract.
Full Chapter are expected to be submitted by on or before 20th October 2022.
All manuscripts will be accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process.
There shall be a rigorous review process comprising of 2 stages. The editorial board will ensure a greater standard of review and identification of quality academic writing.
The authors shall be intimated about the status of their manuscript at every stage.
The decision of Editors shall be final and binding with regard to the manuscript. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles in addition to; inter alia, any edits/amends/reproduction.
Publisher

This book is scheduled to be published by a Reputed International/National Publisher with an ISBN number. This Edited Book is anticipated to be released in 2022.

Important Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts. However, the book would be made available in hard copy for a very nominal price.  
Important Dates:

September 20, 2022: Abstract Submission 
September 25, 2022: Notification of Acceptance of Abstract
October 20, 2022: Full Paper Submission
November 7, 2022: Final Acceptance Notification
Publication Guidelines: Contributors please carefully note and follow the guidelines below as you write. Any manuscript not meeting these guidelines will be returned to the author(s) for correction, which may cause significant delays in the publication process.

Word Count for the book chapter- 4000 to 8000 (excluding footnotes)
Only ORIGINAL submissions will be accepted for publication. Manuscripts may not have been previously published or be submitted for publication elsewhere.
Manuscripts should be submitted in Times New Roman, with font size 12, line spacing 1.5’; justified, with sufficient margins of 1.5’ to the left and 1.0’ on all sides. Manuscripts can be in the form of articles. ‘Article’ refers to a comprehensive and thorough analysis of issues related to the theme.
Co-authorship is permitted but there can be a maximum of two authors.
Footnotes should be numbered sequentially in Indian Law Institute, New Delhi Mode of Citation (available on ILI website), or Harvard Bluebook 19th Edition style.
The Papers shall go through strict plagiarism checks and the plagiarism shall not be more than the permitted limit by the University Grant Commission Rules. The author shall be solely responsible for plagiarism if it is detected before or after the publication of book chapter.
