National Evaluative Conference on the Success of Goods and Service Tax (GST@5)

Competition:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are writing to you from The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, the premier National Law University in India.

It is with great pleasure that we would like to inform you about the forthcoming National Evaluative Conference on the Success of Goods and Service Tax (GST@5), which is going to be hosted at The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) on January 20 to 22, 2023. The conference is being organised by the Centre for Financial and Regulatory Governance Studies (CFRGS), NUJS in collaboration with All India Federation of Tax Practitioner, Eastern Zone (AIFTP-EZ). It will attempt to look back, in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, at the trajectory of development, implementation, issues, challenges, success and/or pitfalls of the GST Laws and the 101st Constitutional Amendment.

The two major themes that the conference will focus on will be Evaluation of GST after Five Years in the light of Centre-State Fiscal Relations, and Structure, Design, Implementation and Working of GST Law in India.

A selected group of eminent domain experts and stakeholders will join the conference and deliberate on said themes on those three days, and the outcome of such deliberations is expected to be submitted in the form of position paper to the government.

An earlier research project on similar lines has been conducted by the Centre during the past year with special focus on the state of West Bengal, and the findings of the project will also be disseminated in course of the conference.

We are also delighted to inform you that the conference deliberations and outcome shall be submitted in the form of a position paper to the government. We shall also publish an edited book following the conference out of the papers presented and submitted by all the experts, along with some selected papers from the students, scholars and professionals.

We are attaching the brochure of the Conference; the resource persons derived from practitioners and regulators are aimed at addressing some of the exiting thorny issues plaguing the current GST regime.

It would be our honor and privilege to have your support.

Thanking you in kind anticipation.

Yours faithfully
